This week sees more sunshine and the start of our performances. Some of these are in classrooms and some are in the hall. Your classroom kaiako will have let you know where your tamariki will be having their performance. There are a wide range of performances happening from waiata, poetry, movies, drama, dance and artwork. Your tamariki have worked very hard and I am sure you are as excited as I am to see them in all their glory.
We had the Haerenga Māia last Friday, and Pūtikitiki was bursting with colour and energy! Love the joy on the faces of our tamariki. Thank you to those whānau who helped out at the different obstacle course stations.
Tōtara Team
Kia Ora Whānau,
We had an exciting end to Week 8 with our Haerenga Māia (fun run) and competitive cross country events. It was wonderful to see everyone give it a go!
Tōtara team has been working hard on our performances. Classes have been working on costumes, posters, signs and recording videos.
Next week, on Friday, 5th September, Tōtara Team will share their performances. All classes will be involved and we will have two rounds of performances, at 11.00am and 1.40pm. These will start on the courts outside Tōtara classes. We will also post videos of the performances on our school website for everyone to view.
A notice will be sent home this week from teachers with a timeline.
Kauri Team
Kia ora,
We look forward to sharing our performances with you in the next few weeks. Kea Hub (rooms 11, 12 and 13) are performing this Thursday 28 August at 9.30am and 5.30pm in the hall. Tui Hub (rooms 8, 9 and 14) will be performing on Tuesday 9 September at 9.30am and 2pm. This will be held in Room 9.
We were blessed with a beautiful day on Friday for our Competitive Cross Country and Haerenga Māia. It was so good to see our tamariki competing, cheering each other on and enjoying their day.
We are lucky enough to have amazing Learning Assistant’s working with our tamariki. Here is Katie and Kayla working with some of our Kauri boys, helping them with their art.
Room 13 – Dream Holiday Projects
Students in Room 13 have been busy planning their own dream holidays as part of our financial literacy unit. This project has challenged them to think carefully about real-world money matters such as budgeting for flights, accommodation, food, activities, and transport.
Through their planning, students are developing important life skills including researching costs, comparing options, making choices within a budget, and problem-solving when money runs short. It’s been a fun and eye-opening way to learn about the value of money and how financial decisions impact what we can afford in everyday life.

Haerenga Māia & Competitive Cross Country
Last Friday, we had a wonderful day with our competitive cross country and Haerenga Māia event. It was great to see everyone having fun moving their bodies and huffing and puffing! A big thank you to our whānau and staff who helped out at the stations and as marshals. The top four runners from each competitive race will now move on to the South-East cluster (interschool) cross country at the Hamilton Gardens next Thursday. We wish all of our runners the best of luck for this event.
Here are our top 6 place getters for the competitive cross country.
Happy Skate School runs fun skateboarding lessons at school every Friday afternoon. See below, or contact Meika for more information.
