Kia ora te whanau,

This is the time of year when we  reflect on the amazing community support we have .

The Board, FUNdraising team, Te Whanau Hononga, and whanau who have helped with cultural groups, sports teams, class and enviro excursions and the Operetta.

We thank you all, as these events and activities cannot take place successfully without you.

Tonight is our final event of the year GLEE. Tickets have sold out so it is going to be a great event.

I would like to thank all the staff at Hamilton East School for their professional commitment  to their mahi. The kindness and understanding I see and hear on a daily basis warms my heart .

Wishing you all a safe and peaceful summer break.

The first day of school for 2024 is Thursday February 1st.

Kia ora e te whānau

Congratulations to our Tōtara classes, Room 18 and Room 20, who finished 2nd and 3rd in money raised from the colour run. Thank you to everyone for your effort and generosity.

With our iconic ANZAC oaks in the carpark being cut down a few classes have taken the opportunity to work with them one last time. We have been doing sketches and writing stories and poems about them. Room 17 had a beautiful farewell ceremony where they sang waiata and said karakia to the mighty rākau. Some of us have also been lucky enough to spot the workers high in the treetops. 

We have had some great fireworks, writing and artwork over the week which included Diwali celebrations.

What a whirlwind of a term and we’re nearly at the end!

A big thank you to the Kauri Team students and teachers for all their hard mahi this term. We have been so busy with amazing Genius Hour creations, our incredible Hauora leadership of Whanau Sports, our wonderful farewell Prizgiving and our outstanding performers who you may see at GLEE tonight!

We also remind you that tomorrow the Kauri Team has a fun day planned, ending with a final NOHO for our Year 6 ākonga. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about this event and remember, your child is welcome to come for some of it or all of it! A ‘gear list’ will accompany your child this afternoon. Please check their bags for information!

This is a final farewell from me. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my time at Hamilton East School. I leave this school with wonderful memories of the many, many children and families I’ve met over my 22 years here.
