Teachers are currently involved with assessing ākonga (learners) so they can report to you later in the term. Reports are published live on HERO on December 18.

We will be farewelling Jude O’Neil at the end of the year after 22 years at Hamilton East. We are very sorry to see Jude go and wish her well  in her new endeavours. We also farewell Alexander Edwards after 2 years and Alex Gardiner and Jacinda Rei.

Teaching Teams, class levels and teachers for 2024 will be confirmed prior to class placement notices which come home on December 18.

The School Board and School Leadership Team have completed a draft of a refreshed Strategic Plan that will take effect from 1st January 2024 for two years.

A Hero message was sent out this morning which talks to why this is happening and how the school community can have their say on it over the next two weeks.

We'd really appreciate hearing from as many people as possible so please take a look.

Kia ora koutou,
Can you believe that we are already half way through the term?  Nau mai, Piki mai - Welcome to our new 5 year olds and their whānau that started with our final cohort entry of the year.  They were welcomed into their classrooms yesterday and there were lots of smiles all round.  Just a reminder with the weather getting hot it is important that tamariki (children) have a pōtae (hat) and inu (drink) every day.

Room 19 have been making nests as part of their habitats unit.  These manu (birds) look like they are having a lovely time!

They have also been learning about the qualities of the Māori Atua who are linked to the world around us.

Congratulations to our Tōtara classes, Room 18 and Room 20, who finished 2nd and 3rd in money raised from the colour run. Thank you to everyone for your effort and generosity.

Thank you to our whanau that have offered to support our class trips to Waterworld. We are now counting down the days!

Monday 4th December - Rms 15, 20, 21 

With our iconic ANZAC oaks in the carpark being cut down a few classes have taken the opportunity to work with them one last time. We have been doing sketches and writing stories and poems about them. Room 17 had a beautiful farewell ceremony where they sang waiata and said karakia to the mighty rākau. Some of us have also been lucky enough to spot the workers high in the treetops. 

We have had some great fireworks writing and artwork over the week which included Diwali celebrations.

Kia ora whānau, This week, Life Education will be coming to Hamilton East for three weeks. Your child will have two visits with their class. These lessons are always fun and targeted to the age group being taught. The focus for each syndicate is as follows:Kōwhai:

- What is the importance of kindness?
