I am sure you felt proud watching your tamariki participating in their class performances and the 65 children in the Glee Show. Thank you for your support and to all the staff members that worked towards these  amazing shows.

What a whirlwind couple of weeks it has been with all of our Kōwhai students performing for their whānau.  Thank you all for coming in and celebrating your child’s learning with them.  Following are photos from each of the classes.

Last Friday was our highly anticipated production. On display was a wide range of creative performances. The ākonga were very excited to show what they’ve been working on for all these weeks!

We have had a very busy few weeks with our performances. Both the Kea and Tui hub were well-prepared for their performances, giving their best effort and showing enthusiasm. I was incredibly proud of the tamariki. A big thank you to the amazing kaiako in Kauri who put so much time, energy and effort into making this happen. Also, thanks to our whānau who came along and supported us. There is something pretty special about seeing your child performing. We also had Glee last week and it was great to see so many Kauri students sharing their amazing talents with us. 

I can’t believe we are at the end of term 3! Wishing you all a relaxing term break and we look forward to a great term 4.

Join us this September to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week). 

Born of activism, the week grew from a single ‘Māori Language Day’ set up in 1972. The seeds of a full week dedicated to te reo Māori were planted in 1974. By 1975 Te Wiki had found its footing and was off! Its growth and gains are what we celebrate 50 years on. 

Te Wiki takes place from 14 – 20 September 2025.

We've had an awesome term at Hamilton East Primary so far this year and are excited to be continuing on next term - what a fun bunch of kids at Ham East! We'd like to welcome all children (current Playballers) and newbies that would like to come and join the Term 4 team! 

The aim of Playball is to introduce our tamariki to constructive and enjoyable sport participation through various age-appropriate programs. All of the programs have a "multi-activity" approach, ensuring a solid foundation in all the popular sports played at school. We teach sports such as Hockey, Soccer, Baseball and tennis among many others to give children an introduction into different skills. Imagine you're learning to throw, but instead of a bog-standard approach, we are launching our magic gems into the castle to rescue the princesses and princes! Or we might learn soccer dribbling but pretending to be penguins protecting our eggs! Every session is different at Playball!

Just a few finer details:

1. Playball will run on Wednesday and Friday (can choose 1 or both) afternoons from end of school until 4pm pick up on the school courts.

2. We will run an 810 week term, in line with the school term, starting October 8th (Wed) until Week 10 of term. Each week we will be learning new skills and building off previous weeks. Playball follows a curriculum so parents are welcome to ask at any time what we are learning each week. Please note, the term is slightly longer this term, hence the increased price.

3. Once I have all the sign ups in, I will email parents a confirmation. Please note: Parents should pay prior to term starting, but an email reminder will be sent out. We do have a class limit of 20 children max each day so it is a first come, first serve basis.

4. A player of the day certificate will be issued in each class. This will go to a child that tries their best, listens really well, and has a great attitude. Every child will get a turn to win the certificate.

5. Playball will be held at the school! We have all the equipment.
