As we head into the last 3 weeks of term I would like to thank you for bringing your tamariki to school daily, ready for learning . Remember SKiDS is at our school to support you if you need supervision for your child before 8:30 and after 3:15.
Tamariki are not supervised prior to classrooms opening at 8:30am.
The school office closes at 3:15, hence children who have not been collected need to attend SKiDS
We held a Whakamaharatanga to honour Kiingi Tuheitia last Wednesday. A Kōtukutuku has been planted on Putikitiki in his memory.
Our ākonga (learners) have been engaged in Aotearoa New Zealand History while it happens.
It was wonderful to see so many supporters for Cross-country and Haerenga Māia.
Next Monday 2 teams,13 classes, will visit Hukanui Marae.
Thank you to those who are coming to the marae in support.
Tomorrow a notice will come home about our famous International Food Festival which is in Term 4. Looking forward to seeing you there and for offers of of food !!
It is so wonderful to have some beautiful sunny weather come and greet us this week. Let’s hope that it will stay! Last Friday we had a Haerenga Māia - Fun Run and Cross Country. We had a lovely day for it and there were many smiling faces. Thank you to the Sports and Hauora team and the whānau who helped set up the obstacle course and marshall the course.
We only have 2 and a half weeks left of the term - can you believe it? Spring can be seen all over the place and Room 6 created some gorgeous daffodils for their class.

Kia ora e te whānau
Last week we had our School Cross Country competitive run and Haerenga Māia, our fun run. It was a great opportunity for tamariki to cheer each other on and show Kotahitanga. It was amazing to see everyone dressed up in so much colour!
Spring (kōanga) is here! It's lovely to see the sunshine back and to do some work around the changing seasons.
Here is a wonderful poem about spring by Bowie Room 17.
Spring Things
Spring things can bring you joy
It doesn’t matter who you are,
It even works for boys.
Spring things are precise,
I like them all,
Because they are so NICE.

Takahe hub headed outside and took advantage of the weather for our morning paepae.

Kia ora koutou,
We had a great day for our Cross Country and Haerenga Māia last Friday, with lots of whānau support too. This Thursday we have a group of students heading off to inter schools to represent Hamilton East. Thanks to everyone involved for the great organisation of the event. I have been receiving emails from students in Room 8, using their persuasive skills to convince me that having chickens would be a great idea (I’m not too fond of birds!!). I love that they are using their skills to write a persuasive piece in a real life context!

Haerenga Māia
Our first Harenga Māia event was a great success with tamariki completing obstacles placed around the school. Everyone was smiling, happy, and eager to participate. We got our bodies moving and had fun while doing it!
Thank you to all the whānau who came to support us, and to our incredible staff and parents who offered their help on the day. These events are impossible without people like you.
Winter Sports
Our hockey and netball seasons have come to an end, and what an incredible season it has been! We had multiple teams participating in local competitions, showcasing great skill and sportsmanship.
A huge thank you goes out to our amazing coaches and managers for the time and dedication they have given to our tamariki, whether it was for training, games, or providing support and encouragement throughout the season. You are a fundamental part of us being able to offer team sports at Hamilton East.
If you or someone you know is interested in coaching, umpiring, or managing a team next year, we would love to hear from you! Without coaches, managers and umpires we are unable to enter sports teams. Please keep an eye out for sign up forms in term 1 of 2025.
