It was wonderful to see so many whānau celebrating Matariki . Thank you for your support this term , keeping sports teams trained and playing, planting on Te Ngahere, class trips , Kapu Tī,  Te Hononga, FUNdraising Team and all the other ways you support each other. 
Kaiako (teachers) are looking forward to sharing your child/ren’s successes at Kanohi ki te kanohi on Thursday

Mānawatia a Matariki e te whānau!

What a wonderful week we had last week culminating with our Matariki Whānau picnic and Kapa haka performance.  All the classes have been acknowledging this time of the year in many different ways through their art, and stories and celebrating with each other.

Kia ora e te whānau and Mānawatia a Matariki. 

Last week we enjoyed the Whānau Picnic. It was great to get everyone together and connect over kai. 

In Ruma 20 we have been learning about the importance of our oceans, and how wildlife can give us clues about the health of the moana. We have been collecting our plastic rubbish and using it to create jellyfish. The akonga have been researching different types of jellyfish to inspire their designs, and have discovered so many interesting uses for the plastic that we would otherwise throw away!

Another term nearly done - the year is going by so fast. 

Last week we were invited to a Year 5 and 6 Ki-o-rahi sports tournament. A big thanks to Emily for organising the day so well and for helping our tamariki learn a new sport and to Matua Taki for teaching them the game. Ki-o-rahi is a traditional Māori game and includes a range of skills. Our tamariki played so well and showed great sportsmanship. It was a special time for me (Whaea Natalie) as I was reconnected with some past colleagues and friends. 

It was so lovely to see so many whānau at our Matariki picnic last week. I’m sure you loved spending time with your children at their kura (school). The sun was shining and it was lovely to see people up dancing and enjoying themselves to celebrate Matariki. 

Our Kapa Haka group performed and were amazing, all their dedication shone through. 

Have a lovely break and we look forward to seeing everyone in term 3. 

The Hononga Rōpū in conjunction with the FUNdraising Rōpū made over 600 Matariki Cookies that were sold at the Matariki Whānau Picnic.  They spent 6 hours making these delicious treats and they were are a great hit!
