The most exciting thing to happen to us today!

We were in the hall to see a band. The band was called Strike. The people in the band were called Katie-Lee, Muzza and Takumi.  They played lots of instruments. They had big, big drums. They played the drums with drum sticks and their feet.  They were too loud.  It was awesome.  Mrs Tyler and Ally got to have a turn at playing the drums.  We had to wear masks on our faces to keep us safe.

Week 5, Term 2 - Matariki - What do we know already?

What is Matariki?
It's the Māori New Year.  There are Stars

What do you know about it?
There are 9 or 7 stars.
It's a good time to start something new.
It's a good time to plant something new to eat.
It happens in May or June every year.
It's a good time to remember your ancestors.

What happens?
You have a feast
You fly a kite
You can have a festival.
We can see the Matariki stars in the morning.

What have you seen?
The Matariki stars shining on my deck in the morning.

What should we find out?
We should find out what day it is going to be on - Henry thinks it is on the 24th June.
We need to find out what the stars are called and what they mean or represent.
